Results
The SIM side costs $405 less a month, about $4,862 a year.
The cloud figure is call minutes only. Number rental, licences and tax would add to it. Worked out on this page. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How the numbers are worked out
Plain multiplication, so you can check it on paper.
Talk minutes
Callers × talk hours per day × 60 × working days. Ten callers talking three hours a day for 26 days come to 46,800 minutes.
Cloud telephony
Talk minutes × the per-minute rate. The figure covers outgoing call minutes only.
SIM plans
Callers × the monthly price of one unlimited plan. The cost stays the same however long people talk.
LumaKol seats
If you add them: callers × the per-seat monthly price of the plan you pick. A yearly price is divided by twelve.
Assumptions and sources
The example rates are published prices, checked on 18 October 2026. Prices change, so treat them as a starting point and type in your own.
Knowlarity publishes outgoing calls at 40 paise a minute through its click-to-call product, with 30-second pulses. This is the starting rupee rate.
Jio’s ₹319 prepaid plan includes unlimited calls for a calendar month. This is the starting rupee plan price.
Twilio lists outbound calls from US local numbers at $0.014 a minute. This is the starting dollar rate.
Visible lists its basic plan, with unlimited talk, text and data in the US, at $25 a month including taxes and fees. This is the starting dollar plan price.
30-second pulses
Indian per-minute plans often bill in 30-second pulses, so a 61-second call is charged as 90 seconds. On average that adds about 15 seconds to each connected call: a caller with 60 connected calls a day pays for around 15 extra minutes a day. The calculator counts talk time only, so a pulse-billed plan will cost more than it shows.
Not included
- Number rental, agent licences and software fees on the cloud telephony side.
- GST or sales tax. The Jio and Visible prices already include it; the Knowlarity, Twilio and LumaKol prices do not.
- Incoming call minutes, which per-minute plans often charge for as well.
- Handsets, and international or premium-rate calls that an unlimited plan may not cover.
Checked on 18 October 2026. Knowlarity, Jio, Twilio and Visible are trademarks of their owners. LumaKol is not affiliated with them.
When per-minute telephony is worth paying for
A lower bill is not the only thing that matters. A cloud phone system is the better choice if any of these describe your team.
- You take a lot of incoming calls on one published number and need an IVR menu or a call queue.
- Customers must never see a caller’s own number, so you need number masking.
- Callers work at a desk with a headset and a browser rather than from a phone.
- You need a recording of every call on every device, including iPhones.
Your own number or VoIP: how to choose
Where LumaKol fits
LumaKol is a calling CRM for teams that call from the SIM in their own Android phones. The app logs each work call against the right lead, asks for the outcome when the call ends and books the next follow-up. It is priced per calling seat with no per-minute charges, so the SIM plan pays for the calls and LumaKol costs the same however long your team talks.
Questions about calling costs
How accurate is the result?
As accurate as the numbers you enter. The sums are simple multiplication. A real bill also depends on pulse rounding, tax, number rental and any minimum commitment, which are listed under Assumptions and sources.
Can an unlimited mobile plan carry a full day of sales calls?
An unlimited plan covers the minutes, and the cost does not grow with talk time. What it cannot do is stop a number being labelled as spam: that happens when many people decline, block or report it, so who you call and how often matters as much as the plan.
Why are the dollar examples US prices?
Per-minute rates and mobile plans differ by country, and the US figures were the ones we could check on a published price page. If you are elsewhere, type in your own rate and plan price; the sums work the same in any currency.
Where does the LumaKol price come from?
From the same live price book as the pricing page, for the plan and billing period you pick. Prices are per calling seat per month, before tax. Up to three owners, admins and viewers are free.
Does the calculator keep what I type?
No. It runs on this page only and stores nothing. Reload the page and it starts again from the examples.
