Instamojo payments become leads your team can call
Paste the URL LumaKol gives you as the webhook for your Instamojo payment links or store. Each successful payment becomes a lead with the buyer’s details, the amount and what they paid for.
- Only successful payments
- Buyer’s name, phone and email
- Amount and purpose in the note

Instamojo at a glance
- How leads get in
- Instamojo posts each payment to the private webhook URL on your LumaKol source, as ordinary form fields.
- How fast
- As Instamojo sends the payment webhook, so the buyer can be on a caller’s phone a moment after paying.
- Repeats and retries
- Each payment ID is added once. A buyer whose number is already a lead gets the new payment as a note on it.
- Where you set it up
- A payment link’s settings, or Settings → API & Plugins in your Instamojo account.
Who it’s for
Small online sellers, home businesses, tutors, trainers and creators who sell through Instamojo payment links or an Instamojo store: workshops, digital products, consultations and handmade goods. A thank-you call confirms delivery or slot details and often earns the next order.
- Sold a workshop seat or a consultation? The caller confirms the slot after payment.
- Only payments with the status Credit become leads; the rest are logged as Test.
- Repeat buyers are matched by phone and the new purchase is noted on their lead.
How to connect it
- 1
Add Instamojo as a lead source
In LumaKol, go to Integrations → Lead sources, choose Add source, then Instamojo, and copy the webhook URL.
- 2
Paste it into Instamojo
Paste it as the Webhook URL in your payment link’s settings, or under Settings → API & Plugins.
- 3
Name the source after what you sell
The source’s name appears on every lead’s timeline and in the note a repeat buyer gets, so naming it after the workshop or product tells the caller what was bought. Use one source per payment link when each needs its own caller.
- 4
Make a test payment
Save, then make a small test payment. The buyer appears under the source’s Activity and as a lead.
How an Instamojo payment becomes a lead
| What Instamojo sends | Where it lands in LumaKol |
|---|---|
| buyer_name | Name |
| buyer_phone | Phone |
| buyer, the buyer’s email address | |
| amount, currency and payment_id | A “Paid” line in the note, with the currency’s sign and the payment ID |
| purpose, what the payment was for | A “For:” line in the note |
| status | Credit creates a lead; anything else is logged as Test |
A buyer’s number without a country code is read with your workspace’s country. Instamojo’s other fields are not kept.
After the lead arrives
Each payment ID is added once, however many times Instamojo sends it. A buyer whose number is already a lead, from an earlier purchase or an enquiry, gets the new payment as a note on that lead, so the caller sees their history before calling.
Common Instamojo problems, and the fix
A payment is logged as Test
Only payments with the status Credit create leads. Any other status, such as a failed payment, is answered so Instamojo stops sending it, and listed under Activity as Test.
Payments from one link arrive, another link’s don’t
If you set the webhook on individual payment links, each link needs the LumaKol URL. Add it to the link that is missing, or set it once under Settings → API & Plugins.
A buyer shows as Not added
The reason is listed in Activity. “No valid phone number” means buyer_phone was empty or not a number LumaKol could read, so there was nobody to call.
Numbers are saved with the wrong country code
Numbers that arrive without a country code are read with your workspace’s country. If you sell to buyers abroad, check the country set for your LumaKol workspace.
Questions about Instamojo
Where do I put the webhook URL?+
In a payment link’s settings, or once under Settings → API & Plugins. Use the same LumaKol URL in each place.
What happens with failed payments?+
They are acknowledged so Instamojo stops retrying and logged as Test. Only successful payments become leads.
Can the caller see what was bought?+
Yes. The payment’s purpose and amount are saved in the lead’s note.
Where does the amount go?+
Into the lead’s first note, with the currency sign and the payment ID, next to the purpose. It is not copied into any other field.
Will a buyer who pays twice get two leads?+
No. A second payment from a number that is already a lead becomes a note on that lead.
