Keep calls syncing on Pixel and the Google Phone app

On a Pixel, or any phone whose dialer is Google’s Phone app, set LumaKol to Unrestricted. Recordings stay inside the Phone app, so LumaKol cannot match them.

    Turn off battery optimisation from LumaKol

    Open LumaKol → More → Diagnostics and tap Battery optimisation, then set LumaKol so it is not optimised in the list that opens. During setup this is the Keep capturing in the background step.

    Set battery use to Unrestricted

    Open the phone’s Settings → Apps → See all apps → LumaKol → App battery usage. Make sure Allow background usage is on, tap it and choose Unrestricted. Google notes that some of these steps only work on Android 14 and later.

    • Older Android versions: look for Battery on LumaKol’s app info page and choose the option that does not restrict it
    • Android 9: also check Settings → Apps → LumaKol → Advanced → Battery → Background restriction, and remove it if LumaKol is restricted
    เคล็ดลับ: Google recommends Optimized for most apps. LumaKol works when a call ends or something changes, plus a quick look at the call log about every 30 minutes, so Unrestricted costs little battery.

    Check which phones this applies to

    Pixel phones use Google’s Phone app, and so do Motorola phones and Android One Nokia phones from HMD. Many recent Xiaomi, realme, OPPO and OnePlus phones use it too; their own guides cover the brand’s extra battery settings. To check yours, look at Settings → Apps → Default apps → Phone app (wording varies).

    Turn on recording in Google’s Phone app, if you want it

    Google’s Phone app records calls where your country, device and carrier support it. It needs a Pixel 6 or later on Android 14 or later, or another phone on Android 9 or later, and the latest version of the Phone app.

    • Record automatically: in the Phone app tap ⋮ (More options) → Settings → Call recording, and under Always record turn on Numbers not in your contacts or Selected numbers
    • Record one call: on a Pixel tap Call Assist → Call Recording; on other phones tap Record on the call screen
    • Both sides hear a notice when recording starts and when it stops

    Why LumaKol cannot match these recordings

    Google keeps call recordings on the phone, inside the Phone app: you play them from the call in the app’s Home or History. They are not saved as audio files other apps can open, so LumaKol cannot match them to calls. Calls, durations and outcomes still sync. You can leave Sync dialer recordings in More → Calling off: each call would only show No recording found for this call.

    Test with one call

    Call a lead from LumaKol and hang up after a few seconds. The outcome prompt should open straight away, and the call should show in the Calls tab with the right lead and its duration.

Does LumaKol upload Google Phone recordings anywhere?+

No. LumaKol cannot reach them, and Google says the recordings stay on your device. On phones where LumaKol can match a recording, it saves only that matched file, and only when Sync dialer recordings is on.

Pixel phones rarely close apps. Do I still need these settings?+

Yes, it is worth the minute. Battery optimisation can still hold LumaKol back after a call, and Unrestricted lets the outcome prompt open as soon as you hang up. If a call ever logs late, it is not lost: LumaKol reads it from the call log the next time it runs.
